Latino Conference to Discuss Impact of Recall
Barbara Boxer on Foreign Policy on Saturday

Los Angeles, California- The William C. Velasquez Institute (WCVI) will hold is annual Latino Issues Conference on October 10-11, 2003 at the Pasadena Hilton Hotel, 168 S. Los Robles, in Pasadena, California. This conference will bring together over 150 national, state and local elected officials, along with community activists and students to discuss the aftermath of the recall election. Other topics include discussions on: Remittances from the US to Mexico & Central America, Green Energy Strategies, Immigration Reform, Campaign Finance Reform and a luncheon discussion of US-Latino American Relations in the Iraq War Era.

The two-day event promises to bring together a group of high caliber of speakers such as the confirmed Honorable US Senator Barbara Boxer, gubernatorial recall candidates Arianna Huffington and Peter Camejo, California Senator Gil Cedillo, and California Assemblyman Fabian Nunez. Los Angeles City Council Members Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greuel, Alex Padilla and Antonio Villaraigosa are also confirmed to attend the Saturday workshops and luncheon. Also invited are Secretary of State Kevin Shelly, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, Assemblyman Abel Maldonado, and Senator Sheila Kuehl among other statewide officials for a Friday evening reception, a Saturday luncheon, workshops and roundtable discussions.
